In German-speaking countries, the term “whirlpool” is often used incorrectly. Originally, “Whirlpool” is a brand name owned by Bauknecht, which sells household appliances such as washing machines and refrigerators. However, the term has become colloquially established for bubbling bathtubs\u2014even though there is no Whirlpool brand for whirlpool baths.<\/p>\n

Technically speaking, such products are referred to as outdoor whirlpools, Jacuzzis*<\/strong>, or hydrotherapy baths<\/strong>. Softub is a unique system in this category\u2014mobile, energy-efficient, and designed for year-round use.<\/p>\n

No. The tub consists of 25 (5 mm thick) layers of polypropylene foam that are heat-welded together. Softub whirlpools are handmade in a factory on the east coast south of Boston. You do not need a permanent connection. A garden hose is sufficient. It is important to smooth out and remove any creases at the bottom when filling, as otherwise consequential damage may occur.<\/p>\n

In winter, we recommend smoothing out the creases at the bottom with warm water.<\/p>\n

The Softub tub is a closed system \u2013 without any drain. This prevents potential leaks and guarantees continuous insulation. To empty the tub, we recommend using a standard water pump, such as the K\u00e4rcher SP1<\/a> submersible pump from our online shop. Filling is easy with a garden hose.<\/p>\n

Bubble away just like in summer. The Softub can be used all year round. Thanks to intelligent heating technology, the water stays pleasantly warm even at sub-zero temperatures. Important: In frosty conditions, the Softub should remain in continuous operation to prevent it from freezing.<\/p>\n

The perfect tub insulation means that heat loss is minimal. If you want to move the pool closer to the house, e.g. to the garden seating area, this is no problem thanks to its lightweight design.<\/p>\n

WARNING: If the pool remains unused during a season, the motor must be stored in the basement during winter, as the residual water in the pipes could freeze.<\/p>\n

Continue bubbling away like in the summer. The tub is perfectly insulated, which means heat loss is low. PLEASE NOTE: If the tub is not being used for a longer period of time, the engine should be stored in the basement during winter, as the residual water in the pipes could freeze.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

\u2013 In 12-hour mode, the filter pump only runs during the day, e.g., from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
\u2013 In 24-hour mode, the Softub filters around the clock.

The heating time depends on the outside temperature, the model, and the amount of water.<\/p>\n

\u2013 In summer<\/strong>, it takes around 24 to 36 hours to heat cold water to approx. 38\u00b0C for the first time.<\/p>\n

\u2013 In winter<\/strong>, it can take up to 48 hours or longer<\/strong>, depending on the ambient temperature, as the water cools down more quickly and the heating capacity is required to work harder.<\/p>\n

The Softub uses an energy-efficient heating system that utilizes the waste heat from the motor to heat the water. Once the target temperature has been reached, the Softub maintains a constant temperature \u2013 even at sub-zero temperatures.<\/p>\n

Water maintenance is based on three components:
\u2013 pH value control<\/strong>: The ideal pH value is between 7.2 and 7.6.
\u2013 Disinfection<\/strong>: Chlorine granules or active oxygen are used to keep the water hygienically clean.
\u2013 Filter cleaning<\/strong>: The filter should be rinsed weekly and changed monthly.
Regular checks with test strips<\/a> ensure that the water remains clear and skin-friendly.<\/p>\n

<\/i><\/i><\/span>Can I use sea salt or bath salts?<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div>
\n

Many whirlpool manufacturers advise against its use. However, since no metal parts in the Softub come into contact with water, there is no risk of corrosion. As the manufacturer, Softub does not provide any warranty coverage for the use of salt. Adding sea salt can help maintain water quality. However, sodium chloride (chlorine) must be added to disinfect the water. The salts are added directly to the water and the effect lasts for the entire time. The dosage is 1:100, so you will not taste any salt in the water.<\/p>\n

Softub carries four types of sea salt<\/a><\/p>\n

Iodine\/selenium<\/strong>: Selenium supports the body’s metabolic processes and protects cells from harmful influences such as stress and premature aging. Selenium is an antioxidant that protects against oxidative stress and prevents skin aging.<\/p>\n

Magnesium sulfate<\/strong>: Magnesium ions help relieve skin conditions. The osmotic effect between magnesium brine and skin cells simultaneously purifies and regenerates the skin.<\/p>\n

Dead Sea brine bath:<\/strong> Cleopatra wasn’t the only one to bathe in the “white gold” of the Dead Sea. Dead Sea brine baths stimulate circulation and skin metabolism. While bathing, the body absorbs minerals from the brine, strengthening the skin’s natural protective function. Skin problems such as psoriasis, neurodermatitis, acne, and allergies improve significantly. It also works in your bathtub at home!<\/p>\n

Selenium\/brine bath<\/strong>: Feeling tired, exhausted, unable to concentrate? The thyroid gland is considered the body’s “accelerator.” Its hormones control a significant portion of the metabolism. To do this, it needs sufficient amounts of iodine and selenium, but these are often lacking. An iodine or selenium bath provides relief, strengthens the immune system, and slows down the aging process. Selenium also has an antioxidant effect and protects cells from harmful environmental influences.<\/p>\n

<\/i><\/i><\/span>How do you properly care for the water?<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div>
\n

The ozone system keeps maintenance to a minimum. The basic requirement for perfect water is the correct pH value of 7.2 to 7.6. For germ-free water, we recommend adding Soft Care liquid together with Soft Care cleaning granules or active oxygen (1-2 times per week). The filter should be rinsed with a hose once a week. In addition, it should be cleaned once a month for at least 1 hour (max. 24 hours) in dissolved Aqua Finesse Filter Cleaner tablets<\/a>. It is important that when adding the water disinfectant, the Softub lid is removed for 30 minutes and air is added to the water using the bubble function.<\/p>\n

<\/i><\/i><\/span>How do I clean the filter?<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div>
\n

Rinse the filter thoroughly with clean water once a week. Once a month, it should be treated with a special filter cleaner or replaced. Replacement filters<\/a> are available from the Softub shop.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

<\/i><\/i><\/span>What to do about odor problems in water?<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div>
\n

Odors are usually caused by insufficient disinfection or organic residues. Check the pH value, increase the amount of chlorine, and clean the filter. Shock chlorination may be recommended if necessary.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Use a soft cloth and lukewarm water with a little mild soap. Avoid aggressive cleaning agents, scouring pads, or high-pressure cleaners\u2014they can damage the surface. For stubborn stains, there are special Softub cleaners available in the range of accessories<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

A curled edge is usually caused by temperature fluctuations or incorrect storage. The material will usually smooth out again during normal operation. If not, carefully warming it with warm water or briefly operating it with the lid closed often helps.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

<\/i><\/i><\/span>How do I store the Softub in winter or when not in use for a long period of time?<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div>
\n

Empty the Softub completely, clean the basin and filter, and allow all parts to dry thoroughly. Store the Softub in a dry, frost-free place\u2014ideally in its original packaging or with a protective cover. The control unit should be stored separately in a dry place.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

There are three areas to consider when caring for your Softub:<\/p>\n

\u2013 Material care<\/strong>: Clean the outer shell and cover regularly with a damp cloth and Power Blue \u2013 High Gloss Ultra \/ UV Protection<\/a>. Avoid aggressive cleaning agents or scouring pads.
\u2013 Water care<\/strong>: Check the pH value and disinfection with Softub-approved products. The filter should be rinsed weekly and changed monthly.
\u2013 Inner shell care<\/strong>: For a particularly pleasant bathing experience, we recommend our specially developed Power Blue \u2013 Waterline, Tile, and Inner Shell Cleaner.<\/a><\/p>\n

If not in use for a long period of time, the Softub hot tub should be stored in a dry place and protected from strong UV radiation \u2013 e.g., by placing it in a shady location or storing it indoors. An additional cover is not necessary<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

<\/i><\/i><\/span>What to do when the lid becomes heavy?<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div>
\n

A lid that has become heavy is usually caused by chlorine vapors<\/strong> that settle in the insulation core. This happens when the lid is not removed as recommended during chlorination<\/strong>. The vapors condense in the material, which becomes saturated with moisture \u2013 the lid becomes heavy and loses its insulating performance.<\/p>\n

This problem cannot be repaired<\/strong>. In such cases, we recommend replacing the lid with an original spare part<\/a>. To ensure a long service life, the lid should always be left open during chlorination and ventilated regularly.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

In rural areas, however, mice or other small animals<\/strong> may try to nest under the Softub or in cavities \u2013 especially if it is not used for long periods of time.<\/p>\n

Please note the opening hours<\/a><\/strong>, which you can find on our website or request by phone<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Alternatively, we can provide you with a replacement motor on request so that you do not have to do without your Softub during the repair period.<\/p>\n
