The wood used for production comes exclusively from the Brokopondo Reservoir in Suriname. The reservoir was created by the damming of the Suriname River in 1960-1964. During the construction of the dam, the forests in the floodplain were not cleared. As a result, over the decades, a real treasure was created at the bottom of the reservoir. Although the trees die, they are very well preserved by the fresh water and the lack of contact with the air. This makes the woods ideal for outdoor use.
In 2004, underwater clearing of the high quality tropical woods was started. This benefits both the quality of the water in the reservoir (less methane due to the decomposition of the wood) and the stock of natural tropical woods and is therefore considered very sustainable. With consistent harvest levels, the supplies in the Brokopondo Reservoir will last for over 50 years. The harvested wood is of excellent quality, highly resistant to decay and therefore particularly suitable for outdoor use.
Due to the high density, the wood absorbs minimal moisture and therefore hardly changes. This makes this edging particularly weather resistant and durable for your softub whirlpool.
