Sulfur is necessary for the secretion of bile from the liver and for the conversion of toxins to non-toxins. It is found in the amino acids cysteine and methionine, as well as in cells, hemoglobin (in the blood), collagen (in the muscles), keratin (for the skin), insulin, heparin, biotin, and coenzyme A (for healthy hair, skin, nails, and many other biological structures). At the same time, sulfur is necessary for the synthesis of collagen. It is needed for proper digestion and absorption of carbohydrates and a number of vitamins, e.g. thiamine, biotin and pantothenic acid; it is also essential for cellular respiration.

Iodine is needed for the production of the hormone thyroxine and is also essential for energy and cell metabolism.
